CONSULTATION ON INFORMATION SEARCH

Consultations are provided on how to search for information in databases and on the internet.
Inquiries are answered by phone and email.

Types of inquiries handled (both verbal and written):

  • Search for documents based on content (subject, issue, field) in the library’s information resources.
  • Clarifying bibliographic data of a publication.
  • Determining the local of a document.
  • Providing facts (dates, places, names, etc.)

Information is also provided about electronic information resources and services.

CREATING AND EDITING BIBLIOGRAPHIC LISTS

Services include:

  • Compilation of bibliographies (printing service is not free)
  • Preparation of subject-specific bibliographic indexes.
  • Editing of bibliographic lists.
  • User consultations on bibliographic citation issues via written requests, phone and email.
  • Preparation of personalized bibliographic lists of published works.

ORDERING, RENEWING AND RESERVING LIBRARY MATERIALS

Ordering materials
Information about the library’s holdings is available on the iBiblioteka portal.
You can search the catalog and place orders from any computer that has internet access at any time of the day.
Orders are processed during the Circulation Desk’s working hours.
If you cannot find a publication (published before 1999) in the electronic catalog, please check the card catalog available in the Library. The library provides alphabetical, subject, systematic and periodical catalog.

Borrowing materials
You may borrow up to 10 items for one month.

The following materials are not available for home borrowing:

  • Manuscripts and dissertations
  • Reading room collection items
  • Rare and valuable documents published before 1940
  • Materials from the Lithuanian Medical Literature Collection
  • Electronic publications on physical media

A single-copy item is available for reading only in the reading room.
Please collect your order within 3 working days.

Renewing Materials
To renew the return deadline, please contact us by phone at (+370 5) 261 7796 or by email at priminimas@lmb.lt
Please provide your name, surname and library card number.
Items can be renewed up to 6 times. After that, they must be returned to the Library.

Self-Servise Renewal
You can also renew your items independently.
Simply log in to the iBiblioteka portal, go to My eLibrary > Orders.
Next to the book title, click on three-dot icon and select to renew the item.
You can log in using your username, library card number, email address, and password.
A late fee of €0.03 per day is charged for each overdue item.
You will be notified by email once the item becomes available.


INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Interlibrary loan is a form of cooperation between libraries, where one library lends documents or provides copies of articles to another library.
International interlibrary loan allows libraries in one country to borrow printed materials and other resources from libraries in another country.

Ordering Documents and Article Copies

  • When placing an order, please provide complete bibliographic information about the publication or article
  • The return deadline for borrowed materials is set by the lending library.
  • You will be notified by email or phone when the materials arrive.

Please Note!

  • Submitting an order does not guarantee that the request item will be delivered.
  • Encyclopedias, reference books, dictionaries, and similar materials are not lent out.
  • Periodicals cannot be borrowed. Only copies of articles may be requested.
  • Submitted orders cannot be canceled.
  • Articles requested from the U.S. National Library of Medicine are usually delivered within one day. This is a paid service.

TABLETS AND E-READERS

With our e-readers, you can access and read over 600 work of Lithuanian literary classics available on the e.paveldas platform.
To use an e-reader, please contact the Reading Room librarian.
Tablets are available for reading e-books from the iBiblioteka portal.
Tablets may be used only in the Reading Room.


INTERNET SERVICES

All users with a library card are welcome to use the internet services provided by the Library.
You may bring your own laptop to the Reading Room.
Wireless internet (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the library.
You can also print documents and information prepared on a computer.
